The Most That I Hoped For (Was Someone Would Notice I'm Gone)

I remember many feelings when I was a child

The hopes and dreams, so many things, imagination wild

Every morning I would wake to find a life so free

Except again, I would be him, the boy who wasn't me

In the shadows, I would dare to be my little girl

But in the daylight I would show a boy unto the world

Ever needing, never finding truth to set me free

An awful aching of my soul for all eternity

All of my life I've been lost and alone

All of my days secret self never known

Praying a miracle might come along

But the most that I hoped for was someone would know I was gone

If I should die before I wake, a prayer I said each night

I pray my soul the Lord to take, and in God's precious light

I would be free, I would be me, in every single way

But back on earth they would be crying for the boy who died that day

Just how would the world remember one they'd never known

The one who hid behind the darkness lost and all alone

I wonder if the words they'd say would tell a story true

Or would they be about the quiet little boy they knew

All of my life I've been lost and alone

All of my days secret self never known

Praying a miracle might come along

But the most that I hoped for was someone would know I was gone

I remember many feelings when I was a child

But the most that I hoped for was someone would know I was gone
